Danica L. Werhand is an associate attorney with Belongia, Shapiro & Franklin, LLP. She joined the firm in 2009 as a law clerk and became an associate attorney in 2010. Her professional experience has spanned the areas of civil and commercial litigation.

Danica graduated from the John Marshall Law School in 2009. Throughout her time as a student, she served as Presiding Barrister, Vice Barrister and Counsel Liaison of the Trial Advocacy Honors Board and competed throughout the country on numerous Trial Advocacy Competition teams. Danica was on the Dean’s Honor List and served as a student member of the Chicago Inn of Court, Illinois State Bar Association, American Bar Association and Chicago Bar Association. While attending Law School, Danica interned at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in the Felony-Trial division where she gained courtroom experience by assisting in litigating numerous felony cases and hearings.

Danica received her bachelor of the arts from Indiana University-Bloomington in 2006 with majors in Psychology and Criminal Justice and a minor in Spanish. While there, Danica was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and participated in the Indiana University Dance Marathon by serving on the Operations Committee. Additionally, in 2005, Danica resided in Seville, Spain where she studied the Spanish language and culture through the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Danica is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association and American Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois.
