Mark D. Belongia is widely recognized as a tough and respected litigator and his skills in the courtroom consistently deliver favorable results. Mr. Belongia’s mission is to provide his clients the best legal support and counsel possible which includes keeping clients up to date on the status of all matters and having open lines of communication at all times. The belief in a hands-on approach reflects his tough and persistent advocacy and attention to all aspects of his client’s business. Mark represents a number of high profile clients in variety of matters including a number of fortune 500 companies, numerous financial institutions, real estate developers, entertainment businesses and individuals in complex commercial and tort litigation.

Mr. Belongia has successfully litigated cases throughout the country and has vast jury trial experience. Some of his professional accomplishments include:

  • Being lead counsel in the internationally headline-making case, Rosier v. Fox Broadcasting Co., et al., which was amicably resolved during litigation.
  • Presenting an oral argument before the United States Appellate Court for the Second Circuit located in New York for a trademark and copyright dispute case, Ivy Silberstein v. Twentieth Century Fox, et al.
  • Preparing independent legal opinion memorandums for submission by banks to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
  • Arguing the only known case in Illinois in which a bank attempted to prevent the State of Illinois from taking it over and appointing the FDIC as receiver.
  • Represented an independent film producer in a breach of contract lawsuit against famed film director Martin Scorsese which was amicably resolved.

Mark’s extensive expertise has landed him appearances on NBC’s “Today Show”, WGN-AM Radio and NBC 5 Chicago News, as well as having been quoted in The New York Times, International Herald Tribune, London Daily Telegraph, Los Angeles Times, Newsday, Hartford Courant and Chicago Tribune newspapers. This invaluable experience has made him a popular and engaging speaker for local forums and conferences which includes lecturing at seminars.

Mr. Belongia is an active member of the Justinian Society of Lawyers, Chicago Bar Association and Illinois State Bar Association. His bar admissions include the Eastern District of Michigan; the State of Illinois; U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois; U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit; U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit; U.S. Tax Court; and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Belongia received a bachelor of science in business administration from Drake University, and earned honors as a Drake Founders Scholarship recipient, Andrew Corporation Scholarship recipient and Illinois State Scholar. He received his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law, having appeared on the Dean’s list.
