Michael D. McCormick joined the firm in 2010, bringing over thirty years of experience in commercial litigation and employment law. McCormick has handled numerous trials and appeals in state and federal courts across the nation. He has extensive experience in injunction and declaratory judgment matters as well as commercial litigation of all kinds, including class actions and bankruptcy litigation. McCormick also has experience in personal injury defense as well as a variety of areas of employment law, including advising clients, preparing contracts, employee and management handbooks and litigation before administrative agencies and state and federal courts. Several of his cases are reported decisions in leading insurance law and class action matters. McCormick is AV peer rated by Martindale. His experience in all facets of litigation proves beneficial in handling a wide range of matters for firm clients.

Mike obtained his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in 1975 and his law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1978. He also received a trial advocacy teacher certification from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy in 1994. While in law school, Mike wrote for the Law Journal. He served a two-year clerkship for the Honorable Frank J. McGarr, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois before entering into private practice.

In addition to his practice, Mike has spoken at legal seminars and has published articles in legal publications and a book entitled “Fired, Laid Off, Out of a Job, A Manual for Understanding, Coping, Surviving” (Praeger Pub. 2003). Mike also co-founded the Chicago Lincoln Inn of Court and is a member of the Chicago, American and DuPage County Bar Associations.
